Meditation – Holy Friday: J. Hicks, L. Baker and D. Garrido

Good Friday Meditations PDF

Joe Hicks – Lisle Baker – Diego Garrido

First Meditation — John 18:1–27 (Joe Hicks)
A reflection on misunderstanding: Peter, Caiaphas, and Judas each imagine a kingdom of power and control, only to be confronted by a very different path. This meditation invites us to let go of our expectations and follow Jesus into a revolution not of force, but of love.

Second Meditation — The Trial of Jesus (Lisle Baker)
Through the lens of law and power, this meditation explores how Jesus is condemned without true cause. It challenges us to examine our own quiet judgments and “unwritten rules,” asking whether we live with mercy or with the impulse to condemn.

Third Meditation — The Crucifixion (Diego Garrido Barreto)
At the foot of the cross, Jesus creates relationship even in death—entrusting his mother and forming a new kind of community. This meditation calls us to prepare, to entrust, and to care for one another with courage and tenderness in a world marked by suffering.
